One After The Other

One of the best ways to maximize the crops and harvest from your garden is through implementing succession planting.

In simple terms, succession planting is replanting a new crop as soon as you harvest one.  It is the rotation and recycling of the same space.  It definitely extends your growing season and increases your harvest.

In order to be successful with succession planting, you need to start planning out your growing season.  Next you need to be knowledgeable about the crops that you want to plant, especially how long they take to mature, and what crops you then decide to plant.  Since you’re rotating your crops, choose plants that mature quickly.  You will therefore have your crops maturing in an orderly way, and will therefore avoid a glut of one type of crop.
