We all enjoy a lovely salad with fresh, crispy leaves. Usually, the first thing you think about adding to your salad is lettuce. Also, if you’re making a sandwich and want it to be truly healthy, again, you start with lettuce.
There are about six (6) different types of lettuce; looseleaf, butterhead, crisphead, romaine, summer crisp and Chinese. An example of crisphead is Iceberg lettuce. Lettuce belongs to the daisy family of Asteracene.
Lettuce also comes in different colors, from various shades of green to the red leaf, rose tinged and burgundy. Some lettuce is healthier than others. The very popular iceberg is low in nutrition value and is not as healthy as romaine.
