Hi, I'm Catherine — the founder of Wise Gardening and a passionate advocate for making home vegetable growing as simple and joyful as it should be.
Wise Gardening started because I noticed something: there is no shortage of gardening information out there, but so much of it assumes you already know things you don't. Beginners get lost in conflicting advice, complicated techniques and Latin plant names — and many give up before they've even started. I wanted to change that.
I'm based on the beautiful island of Barbados, where I've spent years growing food in a tropical climate — and learning just as much about what works for the beginner gardeners I care most about: those worldwide, trying to grow vegetables at home for the very first time.
My approach has always been simple: start small, choose easy vegetables, follow a clear plan, and celebrate every single step forward. Gardening doesn't have to be complicated. It can be one of the most grounding, nourishing, and satisfying habits you'll ever build.
Everything at Wise Gardening — the guides, the planners, the quiz — is designed with one person in mind: you, at the beginning of your growing journey, with everything still ahead of you. I genuinely believe that with the right support, anyone can grow their own food.
