In a garden your plants live and grow in an open environment so things will happen to them.  Most times good things will happen and, unfortunately, sometimes bad things will happen.

As a gardener, you need to constantly check your plants for mold, fungus, blight, yellowing of leaves, spots forming on leaves etc.  You also need to check for slugs, snails, aphids and the list can get very long.  So many things can go wrong and damage your entire crop.
